Bryan Harsin and the Boise State coaching staff added their first official commitment of the 2018 recruiting cycle very late last Monday evening when California Safety Phillip Mills pledged his talents to The Blue.

Mills and I spoke last summer right after he was offered and again found some time Monday evening to have him dish for Bronco Nation on his commitment to Boise State.
“What put Boise over the top was the family atmosphere,” Mills said, “and the feeling of being wanted there, as well as how much my family enjoyed it.”
The Broncos’ newest commit was also offered by Washington State, San Diego State, New Mexico, Wyoming, & Hawai’i.
When I spoke to Mills last summer he said he wasn’t sure when he’d commit but was sure he’d know when he was ready to make the best decision for his future.
“I knew now was the time because all along they were my number one in my head, and after visiting my family expressed that they loved Boise just as much as I did.”
It was announced earlier today that Boise State would be releasing new uniforms tomorrow and I asked Mills what the coaches had said about the little shake-up coming to the program. “On the visit they told me about new uniforms, I can’t wait to see them.”
He also added that he feels like he will fit in “very well” with Harsin and Defensive Coordinator Andy Avalos, “they are amazing coaches and I think anyone would enjoy playing under them.”
The newest-Bronco is a member of a travel 7v7 team that participates in the Summer Olympics and earned a Bronze medal this year.
Mills has next-to-no experiences in “The City of Trees” but he’s ready to spend the next several years of this life in the Treasure Valley. “I’ve only been to Boise once but I loved it there, the atmosphere was great.”
The first official commitment of this year’s recruiting class says he’s been talking to a couple other recruits about joining him on The Blue, “but nothing crazy yet.”
“Being a Bronco to me means everything, I can’t wait ’til it’s official!”
Mills said his family, friends, and coaches have all contributed to helping him get to this point of his football career. “(They’ve all) been very supportive.”
As far as the biggest question on the minds of Bronco Nation-faithful: How does the newest Boise State commit feel about defending the Triple Option?
“I’m confident in defending any offense because I know Avalos is gonna get us prepared every week.”
