About a month ago Leon Rice and the Boise State basketball program added a talent from down under with a laundry-list of offers from top schools outside the major conferences; Albany, Hartford, Hofstra, Iona, Lafayette, Lamar, Marist, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, Pepperdine, Richmond, Tulane, Tulsa, UNC Greensboro, and UTEP to be specific according to 247Sports.com.
Eight of those schools won at least fifteen games last season.
Four won at least twenty.
Last month Riley Abercrombie told me he couldn’t be happier about his decision to commit to Boise State.
“Boise is the place for me.”
The Bronco-basketball commit has moved all over in his young life; from Wollongong, New South Wales Australia to Houston, Texas and soon to Boise, Idaho.
“It’s been a crazy ride and I didn’t think I (would) end up where I am, but I’ve surpassed my expectations and I couldn’t be happier.”
The well-traveled youngster hopes to keep the winning-tradition Coach Rice has instilled in the Boise State basketball program growing and be a NCAA tournament team every season.
“Eventually I want to be the Mountain West Player of the Year.”
Abercrombie feels he’ll fit-in just fine as a Bronco.
“…with my decision-making and my ability to pass the ball and play multiple positions.”
He said his family couldn’t be prouder of him and where he’s headed.
“…my friends were over the moon, happy for me.”
The Future-Bronco loves playing the NBA 2K franchise of video games and fuels up on Wingstop to keep going on the basketball-court.
His favorite movie?
He’s kind of a big deal.
